Davis Takes out Rookie of the Year Honours
Although his debut season in Litre Sprintcars was plagued by mechanical dramas, Jason Davis did enough to impress and was recently awarded the Rookie of the Year honours at the annual NSW Litre Sprintcar Club presentation.
Moving up from the Junior Sedans into the Litre Sprintcar class last season was a big step, but it was one that the 19-year-old handled with much maturity that was well beyond his years.
Despite ongoing engine gremlins when his # 19 Nissan Pulsar E15 powered Stealth was on song it was quick and Davis showed that on numerous occasions with a number of impressive heat race performances at his home track of Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway.
“I knew it was going to be a big learning curve and it certainly was, but I had a lot of fun in the process and I was pleased to take out the Rookie of the Year award as that was one of my goals heading into the season,” expressed Davis.
“There were a number of engine gremlins that we struggled to get on top of last season, but I’m confident that with our engine developments during the off season that we can build up some consistency.”
With the new season fast approaching Davis is very much looking forward to his second season in the Litre Sprintcar ranks.
“I cannot wait for the new season and I’m aiming to be a Top 10 contender,” he enthused.
“The goals I have set out are to not only run in the Top 10, but to also contest every round of the NSW Club Championship, and depending on both form and budget I’d like to contest a number of the bigger shows up in Queensland.”
There is certainly no lacking in enthusiasm for Davis, and be sure to keep an eye out on the young driver in the # 19 Litre Sprintcar heading into the season.
The 2008/09 season commences in September.
Davis would to say a special thanks to his supporters: G & S Forklift Services, Fruit Wheels, CR&D, Ultra Torque Heads, and R & S Davis Small Plant Hire.
